(Klagenfurt 1891 – 1949 Garmisch-Partenkirchen)
The talent of Oskar Mulley became obvious early when he was still a child and a career as an artist seemed logical. He started his studies at the age of 18 at the Städtische Gewerbeschule in Munich but went to Vienna only one year later to finish his education at the Wiener Akademie, nowadays the Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied from 1910 to 1913. His teachers were Alois Delug and Rudolf Jettmar. After his years at the university Oskar Mulley startet working as a stage painter for a theater for a short period. In 1918 he moved to Kufstein in Tyrol where he lived until 1934. In those years in Kufstein he established himself as a painter of impressive mountain sceneries. While he focussed on still lifes, cottages and country life pictures in his early years he now switched to impressive, deserted mountain motifs. During the 1930ies his paintings became so very popular that copycats forged his works and Oskar Mulley hat to sue people who infringed the copyright. Oskar Mulley exhibited in the Künstlerhaus Wien in 1927, was awarded with the Wiener Volkspreis des Wiener Künstlerhauses in 1929 and was a member of the Wiener Künstlerhaus as well as of the Vienna Secession. From 1934 Oskar Mulley lived in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Bavaria, Germany where he died in 1949.
